Hi, and welcome to my website! My name is Nicole and I hope that you will find this site an easygoing, creative space.

I grew up in Oak Park, IL and at a young age discovered a passion for the arts. I learned to dance ballet, play the piano, organ and the viola, the latter of which I still continue to pursue professionally. I also fell in love with writing and history, particularly the history of women and minority groups in the Americas. These interests have shaped my life ever since.

After graduating from Harvard College with an A.B. in History and Literature and a minor in French, I worked at Harvard University’s Department of African and African American studies. Following my time at Harvard, I worked for a small private equity firm that, partnering with the World Bank, sought to implement microfinance products in large commercial banking franchises in Sub-Saharan African countries. Longing to express my interests through the arts, I left the business world to become a full time writer. Since doing so, I have written several short stories, am currently working on the final draft of my first novel, and hope to publish very soon.

In the Fall of 2007 I began work towards my PhD in History at Cornell University. I study early American history and right now I am focused on colonial New York.

I structured this site to reflect the centrality of continuing to express one’s creativity. Never stop learning!
